최근 꾸준히 영국 정규 유학 문의가 있는 전공이 바로 ‘사회적 기업’입니다.
이미 유럽 선진국에는 일반화 되어 있는 영역이지만, 우리나라에서는 아직도 미지의 영역, 걸음마 단계라고 볼 수 있지요.

우리나라에서 사회적 기업!이라고 하면 어떤 것이 떠오를까요?
박원순 시장님의 ‘아름다운 가게’를 제외하고는 머리 속에 떠오르는 것이 크게 없는 것이 현실입니다. 즉, 아직까지 우리나라에서는 사회적 기업의 개념도 부족하고, 어떻게 한국의 현실에 맞게 진행해야 하는지에 대한 구체화가 쉽지 않은 것 같아요. 따라서 우리나라에서 관련 학업을 했던 사람, 또는 지금 국내 사회적 기업에서 근무한 경력자의 경우에도 보다 넓고 깊은 수준의 학문탐구를 위해서는 유학, 그 중에서도 영국 유학을 고려하는 분들이 많아지고 있답니다.

하지만…
막상 유학을 떠나려 해도 부족한 정보!
주변에 사회적 기업 전공으로 유학한 사람도 없고, 유학원에 물어봐도 원하는 정보를 찾을 수 없어요…

다행히(?) 영국유학닷컴의 자매 회사인 영국이민센터에서 근무한 저희 동료가 이번 9월 사회적 기업 관련 영국 석사를 준비하게 되면서, 저희 역시 많은 공부를 하게 되었습니다.

MSc Corporate Social Responsibility with Environmental management

  • 자격 조건: Applicants with a 2:2 degree in the above or related subjects with relevant supplementary work experience are welcomed, for instance a track record in business or environmental management or prior engagement in a CSR or environmental management role.
    ✱ 학점이 낮아도 관련 경력이 있으시면 요크대학은 충분히 지원할 수 있습니다. 단, 위에 설명한 2:2학점이라는것은 한국학점으로는 3.3/4.5정도입니다.

Equivalent international qualifications are also acceptable. 학점은 3.8이상이셔야 하며, 또는 natural, environmental, physical, management or social science subject 이러한 전공졸업자
  • IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 6.0 in any component)
  • 학업 계획서: Statement of Motivation (200 to 400 Words) outlining your reasons for applying for your chosen course (보다 많은 정보는 학교 공식 사이트 FAQ 참고)
    What are you looking for in the Statement of Motivation?
    Basically some evidence that you have understood the nature of the programme for which you are applying, have good reasons for choosing it and are a suitable candidate for the course. It does not need to be a lengthy essay but we do need to see that you have chosen the course for the right reasons. We often see poor Statements of Motivation for the Sustainability programmes, where students write general comments about the environment being an important issue, rather than specifying why they have chosen the particular Sustainability programme. We do not need a general ‘autobiography’, the best Statements of Motivation are relatively short and focused on the reasons for choosing the programme of study.
